Cartridges & Toners: Original vs Remanufactured
As every company you probably have printers, copiers and/or multifunction . Brands as HP, Ricoh, Kiocera, Xerox, Canon are the most wellknown companies of the sector.
Due to an intensive competition, prices of the machines are very tighten and manufacturers make their biggest margin on the cartridges and toners.
Since a long time, some companies offer alternative products compatible or refilled cartridges. Those products have suffered from a very bad reputation, due to the quality, possible damages it could make to the machine (ink leeking) or due to a possible bad quality of impression.
Techniques of remanufacturing have evolved in a positive way.
Remanufacturers now clean the used toners completely, replace the worn parts and refill used empty toner cartridges. All toners must be tested after thoses operations.
The manufacturer will also provide a 24 month guarantee. If any damage is made to the copier due to the toner, the manufacturer or the seller will pay for the damages.
The recycling or refilling of a toner is better for the environment and the prices are much more cheaper than originals (up to 50%).
To counter these losses, majors have decided to cancel the guarantee when a non-official toner is used in their machines.
When you imagine you could save up to 50% on your toners budget, it is worth to think about it.
If you consider remanufactured toners, we advise you to check:
- Process of remanfucturing (Replace breakable components)
- Quality of the ink (Pelikan for example)
- Test of every toners
- Guarantee provided (Damages are covered?)
- Norms ISO and DIN
Most of the office supplies providers could offer you the choice between remanufactured and originals depending on the references but you may also contact specialised provider as Reprocart, Ecotone, Inkeuro...
