Electronic meal vouchers: What will it cost?

In Belgium, 250 million meal vouchers are distributed annually to 1.3 million workers in addition to their salaries. This advantage is one of the most popular in Belgium.

Eden-red and Sodexo, the two historical suppliers of paper meal vouchers will end up facing two new operators, E-ve and Monizze. This competition should benefit to employers and merchants.

The new system should come into force upon the approval of the issuing companies planned for late summer 2011.

What will it cost? The UCM has published a study on the pricing intentions of the four issuers:

Eden-red The fee for traders would be € 104. But would be free until July 31, 2011. If the trader has no payment terminal, the location of the terminal itself would cost € 20,10 / month. A 1,25% fee would be due on each transaction. For employers, the cost varies depending on the number of workers and the amount of the face value of meal vouchers. For example, for five workers who receive meal vouchers with a face value of € 7, the amount of administrative costs would be € 72,50 + VAT.

E-ve The maximum fee for transactions depends on the number of transactions per month. 0 to 49 transactions per month: € 0,35 per transaction; 50 to 99 transactions per month: € 0,25 per transaction; from 100 to 149 transactions per month: € 0.20; between 150 and 199 transactions per month : € 0,176 per transaction; 200 to 249 transactions per month: € 0,165 per transaction and more than 250 transactions per month: € 0,15 per transaction. For employers, the rate is not yet defined.

Monizze On the side of the merchant, we speak of € 0,17 per transaction PayFair if he performs fewer than 250 transactions PayFair per month; € 0,15 per transaction if he performs 250 to 500 per month; € 0,12 per transaction if he performs 500 to 700 transactions per month and € 0,10 per transaction if more than 750 transactions per month are performed. For the employer, the pricing would be 1 to 4 € (depending Monizze, employers UCM should be between 3 and € 4) / beneficiary / month + € 2,89 / month fee. The price of the card would be € 4,5.

Sodexo Sodexo offers four subscriptions, depending on the volume of transactions. When a merchant does not yet know the volume, or if the majority of transactions are less than € 10, subscription "discovery" is a system without fixed costs per transaction and pay for transactions exceeding € 10 , amounting to € 1,5. For the subscription "Basic" (corresponding to a number of transactions exceeding € 10 ranging from 30 to 100 transactions per month), the license Sodexo is 12 € and the cost per transaction exceeding € 10 is € 0,25. As part of the subscription "Advanced" (corresponding to a number of transactions exceeding € 10 ranging from 100 to 160 transactions per month), the license Sodexo is 20 € and the cost per transaction exceeding 10 € is € 0,17. Finally, for the subscription "Premium" (corresponding to a number of transactions exceeding € 10 more than 160 transactions per month), the monthly cost of the license is € 25 per transaction and the amount is 0,13 €. Subscriptions in "Basic" and "Advanced", each transaction exceeding € 10 has a cost of 1,5%. Regardless of the subscription, an activation cost of € 100 will be recorded. For the employer part, Sodexo declined to reveal prices.
