Destiny: Next Generation Telecom
In the 20th century, most telephone lines were thin copper lines. Step by step, when Internet started to become widely available, a switch to a glass fibre network was made.
New technologies such as VPN, cloud computing and VoIP emerged. This made a lot of companies switch towards 100% glass fibre solutions. Almost all companies have fast Internet connection nowadays. The downside to this choice is that they pay for the huge investment costs they made and pay a monthly fee to their provider, to use their glass fibre network (to cover the investment costs the provider made for the fibre glass network).
However, there is an alternative. Using innovative technology on the old copper network, a firm such as Destiny can come up with fully integrated solution which combines Internet and telephony at glass fibre speeds. All this while using the old copper network. Cost reduction is estimated at 30 to 50%, because mandatory fixed fees to use the network (which is the case for fibre glass operators) are absent.
Destiny combines voice and data traffic over the "old" copper technology. With speeds up to 100 MB per second, there are no capacity restrains when different applications (data and voice) are used simultaneously. Destiny succeeded in creating a next generation IP network.
