France Telecom and Deutsche Telecom combine their purchasing power
Called Buyin, the joint venture between the two phone companies officially began operations on October 17, after the green light given by the competition authorities.
Through Buyin - a joint venture owned equally by both groups - France Telecom and Deutsche Telekom combine their purchasing power in different technical areas: terminal, mobile communication networks, equipment and fixed network services platforms. It is also about working on pilot projects on infrastructures. Savings covered by the new structure after three years of activity are set at 1.3 billion euros for the two groups, more than 900 million euros for France Telecom, and just under 400 million euros Deutsche Telekom.
It was the former purchasing manager of Deutsche Telekom, Pyrtek Volker, who was chosen to lead the structure of the Franco-German couple whose business unit will be based in Brussels. Constituted a total of 250 people from purchasing departments of the two groups, the team will also Buyin physically present on the two headquarters: Paris and Bonn.
