Securitas acquires CobelGuard

Securitas, the Swedish safety and security company, will acquire the Belgian company CobelGuard active in the same area. An agreement was found but the transaction remains subject to a green light from the Competition Council.

Founded by two businessmen of West Flanders, Dirk De Bock and Stefan Goethals, Cobelguard developed mainly on the segment of the security for stores and attracted large customers such as Media Markt, Ikea, Galeria Inno, Delhaize or Carrefour.

Its growth was rapid in recent years to reach in 2010 a turnover of 60 million euros and a workforce of 1,600 people.

The deal is not about the business of transporting funds Cobelguard recently acquired following the bankruptcy of Brink’s Belgium.

By acquiring Cobelguard, number three on the Belgian market, Securitas will hold roughly half of the Belgian market for 43% to rival G4S.

What impact will have this reduction of competition on prices?
